Finding Purpose

Hopefully you will have seen my posts this week on instagram, focusing on finding your purpose and reason for being. If you haven't, here's a brief synopsis...
In corporate life, I have been a recruiter. Which means I match people to jobs. I spend every single day talking to people who might be looking to move jobs, to understand what it is they want to do in their careers, what they enjoy, what makes them tick, what they love, and what they really hate.
I love understanding what lights people up. Usually the people I am talking to, think its one thing (income, the team, the company), when in actual fact its something else (like the fact that they could help someone get back to work after a long term sickness). Most people are purpose driven. They want to see other people be great, be their absolute best.
Over the last few months, I have noticed how the majority of people I am speaking to are re-thinking their day jobs, where they spend their energy and how they spend the majority of their time. After all, life is so short, why spend time on things you don't love and that don't feel you with joy? Ikigai, is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". It was introduced to me by my wonderful coach, but there is a whole book on it out there and endless resources.
The premise is simple, to figure out what you love, can be paid for, what the world needs from you and what you're good at.
I suggest splitting your page into four, timing yourself for 30 second per box and "brain dumping" the first thing that comes into your head on each section.
Don't overthink it. The trick here is trusting your gut. You might be surprised by what comes out, I definitely was (in a good way!).
Once you have it all on a page, don't be daunted. You can absolutely pivot and make the change to a new path. We can chat more about that soon.
If you don't know what to do once you've written things down, feel free to book a free call with me. I would love to hear from you. Check out my instagram for more details
Lots of love,
Kim xx
